2011 Pirelli World Challenge

Tristan Herbert and Josh Hurley earned podium spots in the final two races of the 2011 Pirelli World Challenge season piloting a Volkswagen GTI. Their finishes secured third place overall for VW in the manufacturer’s championship.

Volkswagen of America became an official sponsor of the Pirelli World Challenge in 2010, and in 2011, provided the Official Pace Vehicle, a Golf R.

The New Passat!

So, I went over to David Maus VW to see the new 2012 Passat.  I couldn’t believe my eyes!  It’s a beauty!  Once again, Volkswagen has introduced an amazing vehicle.  I know VW is proud of its’ German engineering, but they love their American drivers, as well.  The all new Passat provides features that are  U.S. exclusive, including leather seats, leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, wood decor, ambiance lighting, memory driver’s seat, keyless access with push button start and more.  This is a lot of car for under $20,000!  Here is a look at the 2012 Passat right outside the VW plant located in Chatanooga, TN!

The legendary VW bus is back: The New VW Microbus Bulli

Contrary to the name, the Bulli represented freedom in the 50s and 60s.  It came to symbolize a new way of life and travel more than hardly any other vehicle.  Now it’s back – sporting the same characteristic “V” plus a large VW emblem at the front, but packed with clever new ideas and state of the art technology.  Its unmistakable proportions and maximum utilization of space are unchanged, yet the new Bulli is now driven by a powerful electric motor or a choice of efficient direct-injection petrol and diesel engines.  Despite its compact dimensions, the new Bulli is able to comfortably accommodate six passengers.

The Master’s Academy Field Trip (Middle School)

This past week we welcomed a group of media students from The Master’s Academy.  The 7th & 8th graders had a full day of production with Maus Media Group, including filming a commercial (will be posted on the site), where a few of the students had a chance to show us their acting skills, and they also got to participate in The Master’s Academy Concept Contest, which was introduced by Val.

We had the class split up into 4 separate groups, in which they had to work as a team to come up with a concept for the next David Maus VW webisode for the Val & Wes series.  The teams got to present the concept that they decided to enter in The Master’s Academy Concept Contest. I have to say that we were VERY impressed with their creativity and teamwork skills.  Each idea presented to us was both humorous and charming, showing that the students really paid attention to the personality descriptions for Val & Wes.

We will have a poll on the I LOVE DMVW website, by 4/13/11 where anyone can go and vote on the concept or idea that you would like next for the Val & Wes series.  The Maus Media group will take the winning concept and produce it as a webisode and possibly a TV commercial!  The winners will find out when the spot is posted on www.ilovedmvw.com, twitter (Val & Wes) and Facebook (Val & Wes).  So keep checking in to see who the winning team will be…

The 2012 VW GLI Jetta Revealed!

At the Chicago Auto Show on February 9, 2011, the 2012 VW GLI Jetta unveiling was jaw dropping. “Jonathan Browning, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, proudly unveiled the much-anticipated all-new 2012 VW Jetta GLI amidst a firework show of camera flashes.” We heard the reaction of the VW enthusiasts was comparable to Justin Bieber being spotted in an elementary school. “The cherry red brake calipers, interior stitching, flat-bottom steering wheel, and honeycomb grill were the subject of most of the ‘oohs and ahhs.’”

Not only is this a stunning car on the exterior, but the engine of the new GLI Jetta will melt your heart. “The sporty 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine had real drivers chomping at the bit to get out and drive. Fast. And if the performance inspired design wasn’t enough to turn everybody’s head at the Chicago Auto Show – the Fender Audio System was.”
